Who are we?

After travelling to and within several countries, Gab felt in love with the diverse countryside of Quebec and decided to settle down here in 2012. In 2017, the project begins to mature. You can now rent a minivan at an affordable price from Montreal. We consider that road trips and adventures have to be accessible, and we do our best everyday to make sure you enjoy it to its fullest extent!Providing the opportunity to discover Quebec in an easy, economical and authentic way is our core preoccupation. How to book our minivans?

Here’s how easy it is to book one of our vans. Contact us via the online form and we will answer you within 24 hours. In order to better understand your expectations, do not hesitate to give us as much information and details as possible about your trip.
After that, everything happens online, and you just need a copy of your driver’s licence and passport (if you don’t have a Canadian licence), as well as a credit card (Visa, MasterCard or American Express).

Who can book our minivans?

Anyone over 21 can book with us, provided they have a valid license. (Small) fees for young drivers between 21 and 24 years old will apply. Contact us for details.
When taking charge of the vehicle, the main driver shall present:

– A valid piece of identification (passport for non-Canadians)

– Valid Driver’s Licence

We are the only one to offer the addition of an extra driver for free (for real !). They just need to complete the conditions mentioned above.

What are our booking and cancellation policy?

BOOKING
30% of the total amount (pre-tax) will be charged at the time of booking
The remaining 70% will be charged the day before departure, along with the $500 deposit. The deposit will be refunded within 7 days following the road-trip.
Make sure you got the necessary funds when you come pick up the minivan.
Please note that our platform charges a 2.95% fee for international transactions (non-refundable)

CANCELLATION
A 10% administration fee will be kept for any cancellation more than 30 days before departure (be aware that the 2,95% transactional fee also applies here).
We keep 50% of the total amount for cancellations more than 15 days before departure (plus transactional fees).

No refund for later cancellations.

Do you provide add-ons in addition to what’s included in the van?

To make your road trip truly unique, you can add multiple add-ons to your reservation such as:

  • Premium road assistance (towing in a 250km radius, fixing/replacement tire & windshield without any cost, battery overvoltage etc.. includes USA & Canada)
  • Rooftop tent (pour accueillir 2 personnes supplémentaires)
  • Roofbox rental
  • Roofbox rental with tent, sleeping bags and “meat bags”, floor mat for two people
  • Sheets and towels (1 double sheet, 1 duvet cover, 2 pillow case & 2 towels)
  • Family Kit for 3 (baby and child car seat, hammock/mattress children sleeping arrangements, sheets for the children)
  • Hammock for 2 people
  • Portable toilets
  • GPS or Quebec road map
  • Curtain kit 100% opaque
  • Kit anti-mosquito (candle, mosquito net and spray)
  • Extra Propane bottle
  • Special cleaning for bringing small pets (extra fee)

Have you got a roadside assistance included?

You are covered by a roadside assistance for: tire replacement, towing & battery boost within a 50km radius (the costs associated with changing tires or windshields are your responsibility).
Can I upgrade to a premium roadside assistance?
Yes, we can provide a premium roadside assistance for 8$/day (plus applicable taxes)

  • Windshield replacement ($0 deductible)

An accident? A mechanical issue? It happens, but don’t worry, we’ll do everything we can to help you out. We always have your back in case of emergency.
If your van is immobilized for more than 24 hours due to a mechanical breakdown, we’ll bring you a replacement vehicle quickly (for Quebec only within 800km of Montreal – the rest of Canada and the USA are on a case-by-case basis).

May I modify my van's booking?

Yes, changes are possible on your reservation depending on our availability. Please contact us if you wish to change your booking.

How does insurance work?

Our insurance is set by default and is mandatory for any booking. Insurance fees are 10% of the rental amount with a maximum of $10/night (except for the latest added vans where $15/day insurance fees apply).
It provides for a $1,500 deductible and third-party liability insurance of up to $2,000,000.

Insurance provided by credit cards may come in addition to our own but cannot replace them.

Am I allowed to travel to the United States? What about other Canadian states?

Yes, you can travel to the United States and Canada without a problem, except in the state & territories of Alaska, Nunavut, Northwest Territories and Yukon. We strongly advice you to take the premium insurance if you plan on traveling in the most foreign part of Canada or in the States.

A $10 fee per day applies in order to travel to the United States. Please advise us before booking if you plan to travel to the USA.

Newfoundland & Labrador is not one of the prohibited territories, but we ask you to be especially vigilant knowing the province’s remoteness. Please specify your destination at the time of booking.

What should I plan for my trip?

The article ”the layout of our vans” on our blog will give you more precise information. Here is a brief summary of what they contain:

  • Bedding arrangement (except sheets)*
  • Camping utensils for cooking (Italian coffee maker, strainer, cutting board, pan, stove, cutlery, plates, glasses…)
  • Headlamps (x2)
  • High powered campsite lamps
  • A 12-volt electric cooler (powered whilst driving)
  • USB charger, audio cable and phone holder
  • A propane stove and a propane bottle
  • A sun-powered shower
  • One 20L water tank

How many seats are in the van?

Our vans can accommodate up to 4 people.

When and where can I pick up the van?

Our office is a 5-minute walk from the Rosemont subway station, in the Mile-end.
Departures are from 11am, returns can be done up to 3pm maximum but send us a message if you’re looking to do it earlier or later. Our schedule can be flexible, that’s our philosophy at Le Baroudeur!

Are there storage spaces in the van?

Yes, storage spaces are available for food in the back cabinet. There is also space under the bed to store your belongings. However, we advise you to bring a backpack instead of a hard suitcase.

How many kilometers can I drive?

We offer a basic package with 140 miles/day or 980 miles per week. Although largely enough for most road-trips, we charge a small fee for extra miles payable upon return.

Am I allowed to sleep in my van?

In Canada it is not forbidden to sleep in your car, your van, your RV even while camping wild (commonly known as Boondocking in Quebec). However, it is prohibited to be under the influence of drugs or drunk in your vehicle. We provide some advice in our travel guide. Please remember it is your responsibility to respect the rules and laws of Quebec and Canada.

What if I break something in the vehicle?

During your road trip, it is possible you break or damage something in your van. No worries, notify us (24h maximum ahead of time) before your return to allow us to replace the defective object for our future travelers.

Can I return the vehicle later?

We ask the vehicle to be returned before 3pm. If for any reason you’re late, you must notify us as soon as possible. However, if the vehicle is not scheduled to leave immediately, we would be happy to offer to bring it back later. In that case contact us as soon as possible.

How clean should I return my RV?

We ask you to make the vehicle as clean as possible. We don’t charge cleaning fees to maintain accessibility. We ask that you go along and help us keep low pricing rates. However, if the fabric of the vehicle is heavily stained, we reserve the right to charge a $50 fee.

Gasoline: Our minivans are rented out with a full tank. It is imperative to return it as you received it. We will ask you for the receipt upon arrival. If we have any doubt, we will go with you to check the nearest gas station. If necessary, a $10 surcharge will be charged, in addition to the gas price.

Tobacco: Smoking in our vans is strictly forbidden

Am I allowed to bring my dog with me?

Yes you are allowed to bring your dog on your road-trip. But we only allow small dogs for a logistical reason in the van. therefore we will ask you to send us a small picture of your dog in order to know if it will be authorized in the minivan.

Can I leave some things at you place?

Yes! We make available lockers in which you can leave your stuff you don’t want to bring during your roadtrip. You can even leave your big suitcase if you just arrived in Québec!
