Campervan and converted SUV rental
To ensure that your road trip goes as smoothly as possible, you will find below our general rental conditions (GRC). The rental contract created at the time of your reservation is personal and can be sent to you on request. The information below is in addition.
*To buy a conversion kit, a rooftop tent or any other equipment, please refer yourself to the legal policies of our online store.
1.1. A deposit of 30% of the total amount, excluding taxes, is required to confirm the reservation.
1.2. The remaining 70% (including the selected options) will be charged 7 days before the departure date without further authorization.
1.3. Only credit card payments are accepted.
1.4. A 2.95% fee for international transactions sʼapplies for each payment and is non-refundable, according to the platform terms.
1.5. Taxes (GST and QST) are applicable on all charges related to the rental.
1.6. We reserve the right to move your reservation to a van similar to the one reserved if the reserved one is not available. If no van is available, Le Baroudeur will notify you and proceed with a refund, if applicable.
2. SECURITY DEPOSIT
2.1. A $500 security deposit will be frozen on a credit card the day before the departure and returned, in total, within 7 to 10 business days of the vehicle’s return. It is your responsibility to have the necessary funds available on the credit card.
2.2. The security deposit is retained until The Baroudeur has confirmed that no damage has been found to the rented property (including the vehicle, accommodation structures and any items related to the rental). This assessment will be made during the Final Assessment for the exterior of the vehicle and the complete and interior inspection at the time of cleaning, either the same day or the next day.
2.3. Part or all of the security deposit may be cashed in to refund excess penalties or charges if any. The Baroudeur reserves the right to offset immediately, without further notice or delay, part or all of the security deposit.
2.4. If damage is caused to the vehicle, an estimate will be requested from Le Baroudeur’s partner garage, and the amount of the repairs will be withheld from the security deposit. If the amount is higher than the security deposit, we will contact you.
2.5. Damage or deterioration will result in a deduction from the security deposit. The list of amounts is available upon request.
3. CANCELLATION AND REFUND
3.1. Cancellation without charge 48hrs after the booking conformation
3.2. Up to 30 days before departure: Postpone your trip at no charge until the end of the 2022 season. Price may be subject to change according to 2022 rates OR 100% refund of your deposit less a $100+tx administration fee applies.
3.3. Between 29 and 15 days before departure:Postponement of the trip without charge until the end of the 2022 season. The price may be subject to change according to the 2022 rates. OR we retain 15% of the total amount of the reservation (including taxes, protection and options) in case of complete cancellation.
3.4. Between 14 and 7 days before departure:We keep the totality of the deposit.
3.5.Less than 7 days before departure: The total amount of the reservation (including taxes, protection and options) will be charged as described in our payment policies.
4.1. All drivers must be at least 21 years of age when they take possession of the vehicle (unless an exception applies).
4.2. 4.2. f the driver(s) are between 21 and 24 years of age, it is mandatory to mention it before the reservation so that our team can notify the insurance companies. Otherwise, Le Baroudeur reserves the right to cancel the reservation (standard cancellation policies apply).
4.3. The driver(s) must hold a valid Canadian, US or European Union driver’s license, which will be subject to our insurer’s acceptance process. Le Baroudeur disclaims all responsibility if the insurer refuses to validate the driver.
4.4. The driver’s license must be presented when taking possession of the vehicle
4.5. Drivers in possession of a probationary license are not authorized to drive the vehicle.
4.6. Only the passenger(s) registered in the contract at the time of the reservation and possessing a driving license previously validated by our insurers will be able to drive the vehicle during the entire rental period.
4.7. For tourists (International): a copy of your passport must be sent with your driver’s license, according to the steps on the registration platform.
4.8. It is your sole responsibility to ensure that your driver’s license is valid. Please check with the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ).
5. VEHICLE RENTAL
5.1. The minimum rental period is 5 days.
5.2. The rental period is determined by the number of days (not nights).
5.3. The vehicle must be picked up between 9:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. (or according to the agreement made with Le Baroudeur). If it is not possible to take possession of the vehicle within this time frame, it is mandatory to contact us by email or telephone.
5.4. The vehicle must be returned before 4:00 p.m. on the last day of rental. Any delay will be penalized by an additional fee of 50$/hour + taxes.
5.5. No refunds will be issued for early return or late pick-up.
6. MILEAGE AND GASOLINE
6.1. Each rental includes 220 km per rental day.
6.2. Each excess kilometre will be charged at $0.20/km + taxes.
6.3. Additional mileage blocks must be purchased until the day before departure and are non-refundable.
6.4. The vehicle is delivered with a full tank of gas and must be returned with a full tank. Proof of invoice may be required in case of doubt.
6.5. In non-compliance with the previous point, an administrative fee of $10 plus gasoline charges will be withheld from the security deposit.
6.6. You are responsible for the cost of fuel consumption during the rental period. The use of the correct fuel is your responsibility. In case of doubt, please get in touch with Le Baroudeur.
7. RESPONSIBILITY OF THE TENANT
7.1. When the vehicle is in motion, the number of passengers may not exceed the number of seat belts approved (4).
7.2. It is the driver’s sole responsibility to comply with the Highway Safety Code.
7.3. The renter is responsible for paying any fines, towing or tolls received during the rental, including speeding tickets recorded by photo radar.
7.4. For each ticket or toll fee issued during the rental period that is not paid, the renter agrees to reimburse Le Baroudeur for the amount listed, plus an administrative fee of $15 + tax. You must notify Le Baroudeur upon return of the vehicle if this situation should occur. If you do not notify Le Baroudeur, we reserve the right to send you an invoice, and you agree to pay it in full upon receipt.
7.5. Costs related to changing tires or windshields are at the renter’s expense (except with Premium Roadside Assistance and Protection).
7.6. Travel to the following territories is prohibited: Alaska, Nunavut, Northwest Territories and Yukon due to their remote location. Newfoundland and Labrador and Eeyou-Istchee-James Bay are not prohibited territories, but it is essential to inform us before your trip if you wish to travel there.
7.7. We ask travellers to notify Le Baroudeur, by email ou telephone, in case of broken and/or missing elements at least 48 hours before the return of the vehicle. If this is not possible, it will be necessary to indicate the broken and/or missing elements during the Final Assessment of fixtures upon return. Le Baroudeur reserves the right to deduct the price of the damage from the security deposit.
8. VEHICLE MAINTENANCE
8.1. It is strictly forbidden to smoke (tobacco and/or cannabis) in the rented vehicle. If this condition is not respected, Le Baroudeur will charge a fee of $250 +taxes for cleaning the vehicle.
8.2. The vehicle is provided to you clean and must be returned CLEAN. We count on your cooperation and do not charge a cleaning fee. However, in the event of abuse, our team reserves the right to charge cleaning fees of up to 250$ +tx. In such a case, a representative of Le Baroudeur will confirm the applicable fees during the Final Assessment upon return of the vehicle.
8.3. Any breakage of equipment or the vehicle resulting from excessive use will be charged to cover the cost of repair and/or replacement according to the prices established on Le Baroudeur equipment list (see 2.4 & 2.5)
8.4. In some cases, we accept small dogs (under 40lbs) in our two people vans, but you must contact the Baroudeur team in advance. If you bring your pet without informing the Baroudeur team, a fee of $250 + taxes will be charged for non-compliance.
8.5. You must return all vehicle equipment as it was when you left (clean and functional). A list of equipment can be provided upon request.
8.6. It is your responsibility to take care of the vehicle keys until you return to our premises. In case of negligence (loss/theft/damage of keys), the costs associated with replacing the key will be at your expense.
8.7. It is your responsibility to use the correct fuel, as indicated in section 6.6. n the event of negligence, you must contact Le Baroudeur as soon as possible. You are responsible for all costs associated with the repair.
8.8. You must take care of the vehicle and check the various fluid levels. If an engine failure or breakdown occurs when the levels have not been checked, you will be held responsible and asked to pay for the related repairs.
8.9. The vehicle is delivered with 4 summer tires in good condition, and their condition has been checked beforehand. If one or more of them should be damaged, it is your responsibility to replace it/them immediately at your expense (except with Premium protection and assistance).
8.10. You must stop if any of the lights on the dashboard indicating a mechanical problem should come on or if you notice a problem with the vehicle. A table of lights is provided for your reference.
8.11. Any damage found upon the return of a vehicle will be assessed by an independent expert. For damage that does not render the vehicle unfit for use, the vehicle is not immobilized, and the appraisal is carried out upon return of the vehicle. The insurer may request a counter-expertise to be carried out. Immobilizing the vehicle for this purpose will result in immobilization charges corresponding to the current rental rate.
8.12. The customer expressly agrees to indemnify Le Baroudeur for the monetary equivalent of the damage to the rented vehicle, up to the amount of his or her responsibility, if his or her responsibility is established.
9. CURRENCY & EXCHANGE RATE
9.1. All prices are in Canadian dollars.
9.2. All prices are quoted before taxes (GST/QST).
9.3. The Baroudeur is not responsible for variations in the exchange rate in case of price disparity.
10. PROTECTION ET ACCIDENT
10.1. The subscription to the Baroudeur’s basic roadside protection and assistance is mandatory for each rental.
10.2. This coverage has a deductible of $1,850 and a liability of $2 million (the legal minimum).
10.3. Insurance provided by credit cards does not replace the protection of the Baroudeur but may be complementary.
10.4. In the event of an accident, you must notify The Baroudeur immediately. An event report/accident report/police report will be required to be completed, regardless of the responsibility or severity of the incident. If an event report is not completed, Le Baroudeur reserves the right to charge the client for all damages, over and above the deductible. If an event report is not completed, Le Baroudeur reserves the right to charge the client for all damages, over and above the deductible. We will do our best to help you continue your trip, if possible.
10.5. No refunds will be issued on days lost in the event of an accident.
10.6. If the vehicle must be immobilized for more than 24 consecutive hours, Le Baroudeur will provide a replacement vehicle within an 800 km radius of Montreal and Quebec (the rest of Canada is on a case-by-case basis). This applies if the immobilization is due to a breakdown or any problem not resulting from misuse or negligence. This last point must be confirmed by the garage where the vehicle is stored. In all cases, Le Baroudeur is committed to doing its best to support any potential inconvenience.
10.7. Basic coverage provides roadside assistance within a 50 km radius of the vehicle. Premium coverage provides roadside assistance within an 800 km radius of the vehicle.
10.8. Personal effects are not covered by our coverage (Basic and Premium). It is recommended that you purchase third-party travel insurance.
10.9. Administrative fees of 150$+tx per event will be retained.
10.10. The protections (basic and Premium) do not cover negligence.
