For converted minivan rentals, bedding is not included by default.
For extra comfort and to save space in your luggage, you can add the Comfort Kit, which includes:

• 2 pillows + pillowcases
• 1 fitted sheet
• 1 duvet + cover
• 2 bath towels
  

For camper van rentals, bedding is included in the price.

Limited availability — option must be selected at the time of booking.

At Le Baroudeur, you can choose between two types of vehicles based on your comfort level and adventure style.

Converted minivan:

• Interior sleeping area
• Kitchen accessible from the trunk
• Discreet and versatile, ideal for sleeping in the great outdoors
• 4 seatbelts (except for the hybrid)
• Fits 1 to 4 people

Recommended if you’re looking for a simple, flexible and affordable experience. Its compact size makes parking easy and allows you to travel with lower fuel consumption, while still enjoying a weatherproof sleeping space.

Camper van:

• More spacious living area with standing headroom
• Fixed interior bed
• Interior kitchen accessible directly from the cabin
• Stationary heater for cooler nights
• More storage space under the bed
• Up to 5 seatbelt-equipped seats, depending on the configuration chosen (optional)

Recommended if you prioritize comfort and space, especially for longer stays, family trips, or adventures during the early and late season as well as winter.

Each rental includes 220 km per day, cumulative based on the length of your stay.
Example: 8 rental days x 220 km = 1,760 km included

Need more?

You can add extra kilometre blocks as an option:

+ 500 km for $150

+ 2,500 km for $675

+ 5,000 for $1,250

Blocks are non-refundable.

Any excess kilometres will be charged at $0.50/km upon return.

Basic insurance is included with every rental and remains mandatory.

You can also add premium insurance at the time of booking. Full details are available in the “Additional options” section when completing your booking.

For Quebec travellers, it is also possible to use your FAQ 27, which allows you to avoid paying the insurance amount. It must provide the same level of coverage as the protection offered by Le Baroudeur. Subject to approval only.

Good news: a second driver is included at no extra charge with every one of our rentals.

A date change is possible up to 15 days before your departure, subject to availability. Please refer to our general rental terms and conditions for more details.

Options can be added up until the day of departure (subject to availability).

Options can be removed up to 7 days before departure.

Yes, it’s possible, directly from the booking confirmation email.

Here’s how:

1. Open the confirmation email you received after booking
   
2. Click the blue “View booking details” button
   
3. You’ll then have access to all documents related to your booking (contract, vehicle information, etc.)
   
4. If an electronic signature is required, it will also be done here

To update the credit card:

1. Scroll to the bottom of the page
   
2. Click “Make a payment“
3. A window will open: you can enter a new card and set it as the default

Important: A second charge will be processed automatically when you enter your new card. Choose carefully the date on which you want to change your card.

Please note: Make sure your card is up to date at least 24 hours before the initial payment date on file.

Payments are made primarily by deferred debit card or credit card (Visa or MasterCard).

It is also possible to pay the deposit by bank transfer (IBAN) or via Wise.

Please contact a team member for payment via IBAN.

A valid deferred debit, Visa or Mastercard is required for the security deposit, which is automatically frozen the day before departure.

Camper van rentals are reserved for people aged 25 and over.

For converted minivan rentals, drivers aged 21 to 25 can drive our vehicles by adding the Young driver option.

Under 21, our insurance does not permit rental.

If you are travelling in Quebec, you can drive for 6 consecutive months with your licence issued in another province, another Canadian territory, or abroad, as long as it is valid. You can find all the information directly on the government website (SAAQ).

It is important to have your licence with you when picking up the vehicle.

No, the coverage protects against accidents and vehicle-related incidents only.

We recommend getting third-party insurance for your personal belongings. Also, Le Baroudeur’s coverage does not include damage to the camper build structure or equipment (cooler, stove, etc.).

Pick-up and return take place at the branch selected during your booking (Montreal or Quebec City).

Make sure to select the correct branch when booking, as it automatically determines your pick-up and return location. Remember to check the address shown on your rental contract received by email at confirmation.

Returns at a different branch are possible with prior team approval only, and additional fees apply.

You can return the vehicle:

• Before 5 pm for an attended return with a team member
• Until 11:45 pm for a self-service return (no charge — New for 2026)

This choice must be confirmed before departure.
This lets you make the most of your road trip without having to worry about the return.

By confirming the time in advance, we also avoid having to contact you during your trip (because every great story has an ending 😉) and it helps us plan the team and vehicle preparation.

Our branches are easily accessible by public transit, taxi, or Uber.

No worries — you’ll receive detailed instructions by email before your arrival, and you can also check out our branch pages for Montreal and Quebec City for more information.

Yes, absolutely.

We do recommend planning a first stop near the branch to familiarize yourself with the vehicle and the included equipment. This also accounts for travel fatigue, transit time, and jet lag.

That first stop helps avoid many incidents and lets you start your road trip with peace of mind.

Important: after 5 pm, pick-up is self-service. Instructions are sent in advance.

Yes, with prior team approval only.

Relocation fees apply.

Yes, you can leave your car at the branch for the entire duration of your stay. Simply add the option when booking.

We ask that you leave a spare set of keys so we can move it in our parking lot if needed.

You’ll find the registration directly on your rental contract (e.g. FSG…)

We always do our best to assign you the requested vehicle, but it may be changed to a similar model up until the day of departure due to unforeseen circumstances.

If you plan to take the ferry, please let us know in advance.

Vehicle lengths:

• Converted minivan: 17 feet (518 cm)
• Camper van: 22 feet (670.3 cm)

We take care of the full cleaning between each trip.

We simply ask that you return the vehicle in a reasonable condition.

• Empty and clean the inside of the cooler
• Give the interior a quick sweep
• Remove all garbage
• Do a basic clean of the kitchen (dishes used)

This helps us quickly prepare for the next departure and offer the same quality experience to all our travellers.

For camper vans, you’ll have access to a spray soap and two cloths to wipe down surfaces before your return.

Additional cleaning fees may apply if the vehicle is returned in very poor condition.

With your Le Baroudeur van, you can travel freely in Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland.

Would you like to explore Western Canada (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, or British Columbia)? That’s possible under certain conditions: the trip must be a round trip from the departure branch. Please let us know before you leave.

For the United States, travel is permitted on the East Coast only. Simply let us know before you leave.
The authorized states are New York, Vermont, Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Ohio, and Michigan.

No, our vans are designed for a light, flexible vanlife experience.

But it is possible by adding these options:

• 5L solar shower: a portable shower with a privacy shelter.
• Chemical toilet: This installs directly inside the camper van and is easy to use.

Note that the majority of campgrounds have sanitary facilities, and public toilets are also easily found in parks, gas stations, shops, and rest stops, whatever your destination.

• Maximum possible length: up to 75 inches (190.5 cm) by sliding the front seats forward

Rooftop tent (4-person minivan)

Yes, but we strongly recommend travelling light and using soft bags to maximize available space.

In our converted minivans, here are the internal dimensions of the storage modules:

• Front module: 51 x 56 x 25 cm (20 x 22 x 10 in)
• Rear module: 117 x 66 x 24 cm (46 x 26 x 9.5 in)
• Width between the two modules: 50 cm (19.5 in)

In our camper vans, you can store your belongings in the overhead lockers — these spaces are designed to organize your personal items without having to move everything every day.

And if you have too much luggage, you can leave your bags at the branch free of charge during your road trip!

Yes, all our vehicles are equipped with:

• USB ports
• USB-C port
• 12V outlet

Note: the cooler is plugged into the 12V outlet, so prefer devices with a USB or USB-C cable

In the camper vans, you’ll have access to USB and USB-C ports (near the bed and above the counter) connected to a battery that recharges when the engine is running.

A portable battery pack is also available via the Connected Kit option.

Yes and child seats can be added as an option subject to availability.

You can also install your own car seat compatible with ISOFIX anchors.

For insurance reasons, installation must be done by the travellers, but we can guide you on-site if needed.

It depends on their age — for safety reasons, we do not recommend children under 5 sleep alone in the rooftop tent; it is preferable for an adult to accompany them.

Some parents choose to sleep with the child in the rooftop tent while the other parent sleeps in the van. This arrangement gives everyone their own space and often results in better sleep for the adult sleeping inside the vehicle.

Consumption may vary depending on your route, vehicle load, and driving style. Here are some averages for reference:

Converted minivan

• City: ~12 L / 100 km

A full tank of gas (E87) costs between $100 and $105 CAD (€62 to €65), depending on the price of fuel.

No, our vehicles have no specific energy needs (water or electricity), which generally allows you to avoid serviced sites, which are often more expensive.

The cooler operates while the vehicle is running. When you are stopped for an extended period, a simple bag of ice (sold at most campgrounds) will keep your food cold.

You remain self-sufficient, flexible, and free in your itinerary.

In our camper vans, the battery charges automatically when you hit the road. If you plan to stay in one spot for a long time, you can connect the battery via a standard 120V electrical outlet to recharge it.

It mostly depends on the time of year you travel.

If you leave between mid-July and mid-August, we recommend booking popular campgrounds and your first night in advance so you can start your road trip with peace of mind.

For the rest of the season, there’s no need to book every site, unless you have specific places in mind.

The rest of the time, it is also possible to camp outside of campgrounds (where permitted).

Our roadbook will give you plenty of tips and resources to help you plan your nights on the road.

Good news: our camper vans are accepted at the majority of campgrounds for “tent” sites.

Simply make sure:

• that the vehicle is permitted on the site (especially in certain Sépaq and Parks Canada parks)
• that the access road is passable

Since our vans have no specific energy needs (water or electricity), you can generally avoid serviced sites, which are often more expensive.

The cooler operates while the vehicle is running. During long stops, a simple bag of ice (sold at most campgrounds) will keep your food cold without any hassle.
