No, bedding is not included by default.
For added comfort and to free up space in your luggage, you can add the Comfort Kit, which includes:

• 2 pillows + pillowcases
• 1 fitted sheet
• 1 duvet + cover
• 2 bath towels

At Le Baroudeur, you can choose between two types of vehicles based on your comfort level and adventure style.

Minivan:

• Interior sleeping area
• Kitchen accessible from the trunk
• Discreet and versatile, ideal for sleeping in the middle of nature
• 4 seatbelts (except for the hybrid)
• Fits 1 to 4 people

Recommended if you’re looking for a simple, flexible, and affordable experience. Its compact size makes parking easy and reduces fuel consumption, while still providing a sleeping area protected from the elements.

Camper van:

• More spacious living area with enough headroom to stand
• Fixed interior bed
• Interior kitchen accessible directly from the cabin
• Diesel heater for cooler nights
• More storage space under the bed
• Up to 6 seats with seatbelts, depending on the configuration chosen (optional)

Recommended if you prefer comfort and space, especially for long stays, family trips, or adventures in early and late season as well as winter.

Each rental includes 220 km per day, cumulative based on the length of your stay.
Example: 8 days of rental x 220 km = 1,760 km included

Need more?

You can add extra kilometre blocks as an option:

+ 500 km for $150

+ 2,500 km for $675

+ 5,000 for $1,250

Blocks are non-refundable.

Any mileage exceeding the included amount will be charged at $0.50/km upon return.

Basic insurance is included with every rental and is mandatory.

You can also add premium insurance when booking. All details are available in the “Additional Options” section when completing your booking.

For Quebec travellers, it is also possible to use your own insurance (FAQ 27), which allows you to avoid paying for the insurance coverage. It must cover the same amount of protection as the coverage offered by Le Baroudeur. Subject to approval only.

Good news: a second driver is included at no charge with every one of our bookings.

A date change is possible up to 15 days before your departure, subject to availability. Please refer to our general rental conditions for more details.

Options can be added up until the day of departure (subject to availability).

Options can be removed up to 7 days before departure.

Yes, this is possible directly from the confirmation email for your booking.

Here’s how:

1. Open the confirmation email received after your booking
   
2. Click the blue “View booking details” button
   
3. You will then have access to all documents related to your booking (contract, vehicle information, etc.)
   
4. If an electronic signature is required, it will also be done there

To change the credit card:

1. Scroll to the bottom of the page
   
2. Click “Make a payment“
3. A window will open: you can enter a new card and set it as the default card

Important: The second charge will be processed automatically when you enter your new card. Choose carefully the date on which you wish to change your card.

Please note: Make sure your card is up to date at least 24 hours before the initial payment date on file.

Payments are made primarily by deferred debit card or credit card (Visa or MasterCard).

It is also possible to pay the deposit by bank transfer (IBAN) or via Wise.

Please contact a team member for payment via IBAN.

A valid deferred debit card, Visa or Mastercard is required for the security deposit, which is automatically frozen the day before departure.

Yes — from ages 21 to 25, it is possible to drive our vehicles by adding the Young Driver option.

Under 21, our insurance does not permit rentals.

If you are travelling in Quebec, you can drive for 6 consecutive months with your licence issued in another province, another Canadian territory, or abroad, as long as it is valid. You can find all the information directly on the government website (SAAQ).

It is important to have your licence with you at the time of vehicle pick-up.

No, the coverage applies to accidents and vehicle-related incidents only.

We recommend obtaining third-party insurance for your personal belongings. Also, Le Baroudeur’s coverage does not apply to damage to the conversion structure and equipment (cooler, camp stove, etc.).

Pick-up and return take place at the branch selected during your booking (Montreal or Quebec City).

Make sure to select the correct branch when booking, as it automatically determines your pick-up and return location. Remember to check the address indicated on your rental contract received by email upon confirmation.

Returns to a different branch are possible with prior team approval only, and additional fees apply.

You can return the vehicle:

• Before 5 PM for a supervised return with a team member
• Until 11:45 PM for a self-service return (no charge — New for 2026)

This choice must be confirmed before departure.
It allows you to make the most of your road trip without having to think about the return.

By confirming the time in advance, we also avoid having to contact you during your stay (because every great story has an ending 😉) and it helps us plan the team schedule and vehicle preparation.

Our branches are easily accessible by public transit, taxi, or Uber.

No worries, you will receive detailed instructions by email before your arrival, and you can also visit our branch pages for Montreal and Quebec City for more information.

Yes, absolutely.

We do recommend, however, planning a first stop near the branch so you can get familiar with the vehicle and the included equipment. This also helps account for travel fatigue, transit time, and jet lag.

This first stop helps prevent many incidents and lets you start your road trip with peace of mind.

Important: after 5 PM, pick-up is self-service. Instructions are sent in advance.

Yes, with prior team approval only.

Relocation fees apply.

Yes, it is possible to leave your car at the branch for the entire duration of your stay. You simply need to add the option when booking.

We ask that you leave a spare set of keys so we can move it as needed in our parking lot.

You will find the registration number directly on your rental contract (e.g. FSG…)

We always do our best to assign you the requested vehicle, but it may be changed to a similar model up until the day of departure due to unforeseen circumstances.

If you plan to take the ferry, please let us know in advance.

Vehicle lengths:

• Converted minivan: 17 feet (518 cm)
• Ccamper van: 22 feet (670.3 cm)

We take care of the full cleaning between each trip.

We simply ask that you return the vehicle in a reasonable condition.

• Empty and clean the inside of the cooler
• Give it a quick sweep
• Remove all garbage
• Do a basic clean of the kitchen (used dishes)

This helps us quickly prepare for the next departure and provide the same quality experience to all our travellers.

For cargo vans, you will have access to a spray soap and two cloths to wipe down surfaces before your return.

Additional cleaning fees may apply if the vehicle is returned in very dirty condition.

With your Le Baroudeur van, you can travel freely in:

• Quebec
• Ontario
• New Brunswick
• Nova Scotia
• Prince Edward Island
• Newfoundland (excluding Newfoundland and Labrador)

For the United States, travel is permitted on the East Coast only.

The US Travel option must be added to the booking to notify our insurers.

Yes, under certain conditions:

For Western Canada (MB, SK, AB, BC), travel is permitted only as a round trip from the initial branch, and must be approved by a team member before departure.

Additional mileage and insurance fees may apply.

No, our vans are designed for a lightweight and flexible vanlife experience.

But it’s possible by adding the options:

• 5L solar shower: a portable shower along with a privacy shelter.
• Chemical toilet: It installs directly inside the cargo van and is easy to use.

Please note that most campgrounds have sanitary blocks, and you will also easily find public restrooms in parks, gas stations, shops, and rest areas, regardless of your destination.

Converted minivan (interior sleeping)

• Standard mattress dimensions: 69 x 48 inches (175 x 122 cm)
• Maximum possible length: up to 75 inches (190.5 cm) by sliding the front seats forward

Rooftop tent (4-person minivan and converted SUV)

• Dimensions: 81 x 55 inches (208 x 140 cm)

Yes, but we strongly recommend travelling light and opting for soft bags to make the most of the available space.

In our minivans, here are the internal dimensions of the storage modules:

• Front module: 51 x 56 x 25 cm (20 x 22 x 10 in)
• Rear module: 117 x 66 x 24 cm (46 x 26 x 9.5 in)
• Width between the two modules: 50 cm (19.5 in)

In our camper vans, the main storage space is located under the bed. This space is larger, but if you’re travelling as a family, it converts into a bunk for two people, which reduces the space available for luggage.

In all cases, these spaces are designed to store your personal belongings in an organized way, without having to move everything around each day.

And if you have too much luggage, you can leave your suitcases at the branch free of charge during your road trip!

Yes, all our vehicles are equipped with:

• USB ports
• USB-C port
• 12V outlet

Note: the cooler is plugged into the 12V outlet, so favour devices with a USB or USB-C cable

In camper vans, you will have access to USB and USB-C ports connected to a battery that charges while the engine is running.

A portable battery pack is also available through the Connected Kit option.

Yes and child seats can be added as an option subject to availability.

You can also install your own car seat compatible with ISOFIX anchors.

For insurance reasons, installation must be done by the travellers, but we can guide you on site if needed.

It depends on their age. For safety reasons, we do not recommend that children under 5 sleep alone in the rooftop tent, it is preferable for an adult to accompany them.

Some parents choose to sleep with the child in the rooftop tent while the other parent sleeps in the van. This setup gives everyone their own space and often results in better sleep for the adult inside the vehicle.

Fuel consumption may vary depending on your itinerary, the vehicle load, and your driving style. Here are however some averages for reference:

Converted minivan

• City: ~12 L / 100 km
  
• Highway: ~8.5 L / 100 km
  
• Range per tank: approximately 700 km

A full tank of gas (E87) costs between $100 and $105 CAD (approximately €62 to €65), depending on fuel price variations.

Cargo van (camper van)

• City: ~18 L/100 km
  
• Highway: ~15 L/100 km
  
• Range per tank: approximately 700 km

A full tank of gas (E87) costs on average between $90 and $120 CAD, depending on fuel price variations.

Our hybrid minivan (Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid) combines a gas engine and an electric motor to provide extended range on a road trip.

• Electric range: approximately 50 km in 100% electric mode
• Total range per tank: approximately 800 km

Charging is possible at Level 1 or Level 2 stations (no fast charging) available at many locations in Quebec.

You can drive without recharging: the gas engine takes over automatically.

Baroudeur tip: charging during a hike or a visit often allows you to set off again with a full battery and save money during your stay.

No, our vehicles have no special energy requirements (water or electricity), which generally allows you to avoid serviced sites, which are often more expensive.

The cooler runs while the vehicle is in motion. When you are parked for an extended period, a simple bag of ice (sold at most campgrounds) will keep your food cold.

You stay autonomous, flexible, and free in your itinerary.

In our camper vans, the battery charges automatically as you drive. If you plan to stay at one spot for a long time, it is possible to connect the battery via a standard 120V electrical outlet to recharge it.

It depends mostly on the time of year you are travelling.

If you are leaving between mid-July and mid-August, we recommend booking popular campgrounds in advance as well as your first night, so you can start your road trip with peace of mind.

For the rest of the season, you do not need to book every site in advance, unless you have specific places in mind.

The rest of the time, it is also possible to camp outside of designated campgrounds (where permitted).

Our roadbook will provide plenty of tips and resources to help you plan your nights on the road.

Good news: our camper vans are accepted at the majority of campgrounds in the “tent” category.

Simply make sure:

• that the vehicle is permitted on the site (particularly in certain Sépaq and Parks Canada parks)
• that the access road is passable

Since our vans have no special energy requirements (water or electricity), you can generally avoid serviced sites, which are often more expensive.
