For converted minivan rentals, bedding is not included by default.
For added comfort and to free up luggage space, you can add the Comfort Kit, which includes:

• 2 pillows + pillowcases
• 1 fitted sheet
• 1 duvet + cover
• 2 bath towels
  

For camper van rentals, bedding is included in the price.

At Le Baroudeur, you can choose between two types of vehicles depending on your comfort level and adventure style.

Converted minivan:

• Interior sleeping
• Kitchen accessible through the trunk
• Discreet and versatile, ideal for sleeping in the great outdoors
• 4 seat belts (except for the hybrid)
• Fits 1 to 4 people

Recommended if you’re looking for a simple, flexible, and budget-friendly experience. Its compact size makes it easy to park and travel with lower fuel consumption, while still offering a sheltered sleeping space.

Camper van:

• More spacious living area with stand-up headroom
• Fixed bed inside
• Interior kitchen directly accessible inside the cabin
• Stationary heater for cooler nights
• More storage space under the bed
• Up to 5 seats with seat belts, depending on chosen configuration (optional)

Recommended if you prioritize comfort and space, especially for longer stays, family trips, or adventures in shoulder season and winter.

Each rental includes 137 miles per day, which accumulate based on the length of your trip.
Example: 8 days x 137 miles = 1,096 miles included

Need more?

You can add extra mileage blocks as an option:

+ 310 miles for $150 CAD

+ 1,553 miles for $675 CAD

+ 3,107 miles for $1,250 CAD

Blocks are non-refundable.

Any mileage over the included amount will be charged at $0.50/km upon return.

Basic insurance is included with every rental and is mandatory.

You can also add premium insurance at the time of booking. Full details are available under the “Additional options” section when completing your reservation.

For Quebec travelers, it is also possible to use your own FAQ 27, which allows you to avoid paying for the insurance coverage. It must cover the same amount of protection as the coverage offered by Le Baroudeur. Subject to approval only.

Great news — a second driver is included at no extra charge with every one of our reservations.

A date change is possible up to 15 days before your departure, subject to availability. Please refer to our general rental conditions for more details.

Options can be added up until the day of departure (subject to availability).

Options can be removed up to 7 days before departure.

Yes, you can do it directly from your booking confirmation email.

Here’s how:

1. Open the confirmation email you received after booking
   
2. Click the blue button “View booking details“
   
3. You’ll then have access to all documents related to your booking (contract, vehicle info, etc.)
   
4. If an electronic signature is required, it will also be done there

To update the credit card:

1. Scroll to the bottom of the page
   
2. Click “Make a payment“
3. A window will open: you can enter a new card and set it as the default

Important: A second charge will be processed automatically when you enter your new card. Make sure to choose the right time to update your card.

Please note: Make sure your card is up to date at least 24 hours before the initial payment date on file.

Payments are mainly made by deferred debit card or credit card (Visa or MasterCard).

It is also possible to pay the deposit by bank transfer (IBAN) or via Wise.

Please contact a team member for payment via IBAN.

A valid deferred debit card, Visa, or Mastercard is required for the security deposit, which is automatically frozen the day before departure.

Camper van rentals are reserved for people aged 25 and over.

For converted minivan rentals, drivers between 21 and 25 can rent our vehicles by adding the Young Driver option.

Under 21, our insurance does not allow rentals.

If you’re visiting Quebec, you can drive for 6 consecutive months using your license issued in another province, Canadian territory, or abroad, as long as it is valid. You can find all the information directly on the government website (SAAQ).

It’s important to have your license with you when picking up the vehicle.

No, coverage only applies to accidents and issues related to the vehicle itself.

We recommend getting third-party insurance for your personal belongings. Also, Le Baroudeur’s coverage does not include damage to the conversion structure and equipment (cooler, camp stove, etc.).

Pickup and return take place at the branch selected during your reservation (Montreal or Quebec City).

Make sure to select the right branch at the time of booking, as it automatically determines your pickup and return location. Check the address shown on your rental contract sent by email at confirmation.

Returns at a different branch are possible with prior team approval only, and additional fees apply.

You can return the vehicle:

• Before 5:00 PM for an assisted return with a team member
• Until 11:45 PM for a self-service return (no charge — New for 2026)

This choice must be confirmed before departure.
It lets you make the most of your road trip without worrying about the return.

By confirming the time in advance, we also avoid having to reach out to you during your stay (because every great story has to end sometime 😉) and it helps us properly plan the team and vehicle prep.

Our branches are easily accessible by public transit, taxi, or Uber.

No worries — you’ll receive detailed instructions by email before your arrival, and you can also check the pages for our Montreal and Quebec City branches for more information.

Yes, absolutely.

That said, we recommend planning a first stop close to the branch to get familiar with the vehicle and the included gear. This also helps account for flight fatigue, travel time, and jet lag.

This first stop helps avoid a lot of issues and lets you start your road trip with peace of mind.

Important: after 5:00 PM, pickup is self-service. Instructions are sent in advance.

Yes, with prior team approval only.

Relocation fees apply.

Yes, you can leave your car at the branch for the duration of your stay. Just add the option when booking.

We ask that you leave a spare set of keys so we can move it in our parking lot if needed.

You’ll find the registration number directly on your rental contract (e.g. FSG…)

We always do our best to assign you the vehicle you requested, but it may be swapped for a similar model up until the day of departure due to unforeseen circumstances.

If you’re planning to take the ferry, please let us know in advance.

Vehicle lengths:

• Converted minivan: 17 ft (518 cm)
• Camper van: 22 ft (670.3 cm)

We take care of full cleaning between every trip.

We just ask that you return the vehicle in a reasonable condition.

• Empty and clean the inside of the cooler
• Give it a quick sweep
• Remove all garbage
• Do a basic clean of the kitchen (dishes used)

This helps us quickly prep for the next departure and maintain the same quality experience for all our travelers.

For camper vans, you’ll have access to a spray soap and two cloths to wipe down surfaces before your return.

Additional cleaning fees may apply if the vehicle is returned very dirty.

With your Le Baroudeur van, you can travel freely across Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland.

Want to explore Western Canada (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, or British Columbia)? That’s possible under certain conditions: the trip must be a round trip from your departure branch. Just let us know before you leave.

For the United States, travel is authorized on the East Coast only. Just let us know before your departure.
Authorized states are New York, Vermont, Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Ohio, and Michigan.

No, our vans are designed for a lightweight, flexible vanlife experience.

But it’s possible by adding these options:

• 5L solar shower: a portable shower with a privacy shelter.
• Chemical toilet: It installs directly inside the camper van and is easy to use.

Note that most campgrounds have restroom facilities, and you’ll also easily find public restrooms in parks, gas stations, stores, and rest stops, wherever you’re headed.

Yes, but we strongly recommend traveling light and using soft bags to maximize the available space.

In our converted minivans, here are the internal dimensions of the storage modules:

• Front module: 20 x 22 x 10 in (51 x 56 x 25 cm)
• Rear module: 46 x 26 x 9.5 in (117 x 66 x 24 cm)
• Width between the two modules: 19.5 in (50 cm)

In our camper vans, you can store your things in the overhead compartments — these spaces are designed to keep your personal belongings organized without having to move everything around every day.

And if you have too much luggage, you can leave your bags at the branch for free during your road trip!

Yes, all our vehicles are equipped with:

• USB ports
• USB-C port
• 12V outlet

Note: the cooler is plugged into the 12V outlet, so prioritize devices with a USB or USB-C cable

In the camper vans, you’ll have access to USB and USB-C ports (near the bed and above the counter) connected to a battery that recharges when the engine is running.

A portable battery is also available through the Connected Kit option.

Yes, and child seats can be added as an option based on availability.

You can also install your own car seat compatible with ISOFIX anchors.

For insurance reasons, installation must be done by the travelers, but we can guide you on-site if needed.

It depends on their age — for safety reasons, we don’t recommend children under 5 sleeping alone in the rooftop tent; it’s better to have an adult with them.

Some parents choose to sleep with the child in the rooftop tent while the other parent sleeps inside the van. This setup gives everyone their own space and often leads to a more restful sleep for the adult inside the vehicle.

Fuel consumption can vary depending on your route, vehicle load, and driving style. Here are some averages for reference:

Converted minivan

No, our vehicles don’t have any special energy needs (water or electricity), which generally lets you avoid serviced sites, which are often more expensive.

The cooler runs while the vehicle is on. When you’re parked for a long period, a simple bag of ice (sold at most campgrounds) keeps your food cold.

You stay independent, flexible, and free in your itinerary.

In our camper vans, the battery charges automatically while you drive. If you plan to stay at one spot for a long time, you can plug the battery into a standard 120V outlet to recharge it.

It depends mainly on when you’re traveling.

If you’re going between mid-July and mid-August, we recommend booking popular campgrounds in advance, as well as your first night, so you can kick off your road trip stress-free.

For the rest of the season, you don’t need to book every spot in advance, unless you have specific places in mind.

The rest of the time, it’s also possible to camp outside of campgrounds (where permitted).

Our roadbook will give you plenty of tips and resources to help you plan your nights on the road.

Good news: our camper vans are accepted at most tent campgrounds.

Just make sure:

• the vehicle is allowed on the site (particularly at some Sépaq and Parks Canada locations)
• the access road is passable
