No, bedding is not included by default.
For extra comfort and to free up space in your bags, you can add the Comfort Kit, which includes:

• 2 pillows + pillowcases
• 1 fitted sheet
• 1 duvet + cover
• 2 bath towels

At Le Baroudeur, you can choose between two types of vehicles based on your comfort level and adventure style.

Minivan:

• Sleeping inside
• Kitchen accessible through the trunk
• Discreet and versatile, great for sleeping out in nature
• 4 seatbelts (except the hybrid)
• Fits 1 to 4 people

Recommended if you’re looking for a simple, flexible, and budget-friendly experience. Its compact size makes parking easy and keeps fuel consumption lower, while still giving you a sheltered sleep space whatever the weather.

Camper van:

• More spacious living area, you can stand up inside
• Fixed bed inside
• Interior kitchen accessible directly from the cabin
• Diesel heater for cooler nights
• More storage space under the bed
• Up to 6 seats with seatbelts, depending on the configuration chosen (optional)

Recommended if you prioritize comfort and space, especially for longer trips, family travel, or adventures during the shoulder season and winter.

Each rental includes 220km (137 miles) per day, cumulative over the length of your trip.
Example: 8 days × 220km (137 miles) = 1760 km (1,096 miles) included

Need more?

You can add extra mileage blocks as an option:

+ 500 km (311 miles) for CA$150

+ 2500 km (1,553 miles) for CA$675

+ 5000 km (3,107 miles) for CA$1,250

Mileage blocks are non-refundable.

Any mileage over the included amount will be charged at CA$0.50/km upon return.

Basic insurance is included with every rental and is mandatory.

You can also add premium insurance when booking. All the details are available in the “Additional Options” section when completing your reservation.

For travelers from Quebec, it’s also possible to use your own FAQ 27 coverage, which lets you avoid paying for our insurance packages. It must cover the same protection amount as the coverage offered by Le Baroudeur. Subject to approval only.

Good news, the second driver is included at no extra charge with every one of our bookings.

A date change is possible up to 15 days before your departure, subject to availability. Refer to our general rental conditions for more details.

Options can be added up until the day of departure (subject to availability).

Options can be removed up to 7 days before departure.

Yes, you can do it directly from your booking confirmation email.

Here’s how:

1. Open the confirmation email you received after booking
   
2. Click the blue “View Booking Details” button
   
3. You’ll then have access to all documents related to your booking (contract, vehicle info, etc.)
   
4. If an electronic signature is required, it will also be done there

To update your credit card:

1. Scroll to the bottom of the page
   
2. Click “Make a Payment“
3. A window will open where you can enter a new card and set it as the default

Important: The second charge will be processed automatically as soon as you enter your new card. Choose the date carefully.

Note: Make sure your card is up to date at least 24 hours before the initial payment date on file.

Payments are primarily made by debit card or credit card (Visa or MasterCard).

It’s also possible to pay the deposit by bank transfer (IBAN) or via Wise.

Please contact a team member for payments via IBAN.

A valid debit card, Visa, or Mastercard is required for the security deposit, which is automatically frozen the day before departure.

Yes, for drivers aged 21 to 25, you can rent our vehicles by adding the Young Driver option.

Under 21, our insurance doesn’t allow rentals.

If you’re visiting Quebec, you can drive for 6 consecutive months with a license issued in another province, Canadian territory, or abroad, as long as it’s valid. You can find all the details directly on the government website (SAAQ).

You’ll need to have your license with you when picking up the vehicle.

No, the coverage only applies to accidents and issues related to the vehicle itself.

We recommend getting third-party insurance for your personal belongings. Also, Baroudeur coverage does not include damage to the van conversion structure or equipment (cooler, stove, etc.).

Pickup and drop-off take place at the branch you selected when booking (Montreal or Quebec City).

Make sure to select the right branch when booking, as it automatically determines your pickup and drop-off location. Check the address on your rental contract received by email at confirmation.

Returns at a different branch are possible with prior team approval only, and additional fees apply.

You can return the vehicle:

• Before 5 PM for an assisted return with a team member
• Until 11:45 PM for a self-serve return (no extra charge — new in 2026)

This choice must be confirmed before departure.
It lets you make the most of your road trip without worrying about the return.

By confirming the return time in advance, we also avoid having to reach out during your trip (because all good things must come to an end 😉) and it helps us plan staffing and vehicle prep.

Our branches are easily accessible by public transit, taxi, or Uber.

No worries, you’ll receive detailed instructions by email before your arrival, and you can also check the pages for our Montreal and Quebec City branches for more info.

Yes, absolutely.

We do recommend planning a first stop close to the branch to get familiar with the vehicle and the included equipment. This also accounts for travel fatigue, time zone differences, and the drive from the airport.

That first stop can prevent a lot of hassle and lets you start your road trip with peace of mind.

Important: after 5 PM, pickup is done autonomously. Instructions are sent in advance.

Yes, with prior team approval only.

Relocation fees apply.

Yes, you can leave your car at the branch for the duration of your stay. Just add the option when booking.

We ask that you leave a spare key so we can move it in our parking lot if needed.

You’ll find the registration directly on your rental contract (e.g. FSG…)

We always do our best to assign you the vehicle you requested, but it may be swapped for a similar model up until the day of departure due to unforeseen circumstances.

If you’re planning to take the ferry, let us know in advance.

Vehicle lengths:

• Minivan: 17 feet (518 cm)
• Camper van: 22 feet (670.3 cm)

We take care of a full clean between every trip.

We just ask that you return the vehicle in a reasonable state.

• Empty and clean out the cooler
• Give the floor a quick sweep
• Remove all trash
• Do a basic clean of the kitchen area (dishes used)

This helps us prep quickly for the next departure and give every traveler the same great experience.

For camper vans, you’ll have access to a spray soap and two cloths to wipe down surfaces before returning.

Extra cleaning fees may apply if the vehicle is returned in very poor condition.

With your Le Baroudeur van, you can travel freely in:

• Quebec
• Ontario
• New Brunswick
• Nova Scotia
• Prince Edward Island
• Newfoundland (excluding Labrador)

For the US, travel is allowed on the East Coast only.

The US Travel option must be added to your booking so we can notify our insurance provider.

Yes, under certain conditions:

For Western Canada (MB, SK, AB, BC), travel is only possible as a round trip from your starting branch, and must be approved by a team member before departure.

Additional mileage and insurance fees may apply.

No, our vehicles are designed for a light, flexible vanlife experience.

But it’s possible by adding these options:

• 5L Solar Shower: a portable shower with a privacy shelter.
• Chemical Toilet: It installs directly inside the camper van and is easy to use.

Keep in mind that most campgrounds have bathroom facilities, and you’ll easily find public restrooms in parks, gas stations, stores, and rest areas, wherever you’re headed.

Minivan (interior sleeping)

• Standard mattress dimensions: 69 x 48 inches (175 x 122 cm)
• Maximum possible length: up to 75 inches (190.5 cm) by sliding the front seats forward

Rooftop tent (4-person minivan and converted SUV)

Yes, but we strongly recommend traveling light and using soft bags to make the most of the available space.

In our converted minivans, here are the internal dimensions of the storage modules:

• Front module: 20 x 22 x 10 in (51 x 56 x 25 cm)
• Rear module: 46 x 26 x 9.5 in (117 x 66 x 24 cm)
• Width between the two modules: 19.5 in (50 cm)

In our camper vans, the main storage area is under the bed. It’s quite spacious, but if you’re traveling as a family, it converts into a second sleeping area for two, which reduces the space available for luggage.

Either way, these spaces are designed to keep your gear organized without having to move everything around every day.

And if you have too much luggage, you can leave your bags at the branch for free during your road trip!

Yes, all our vehicles are equipped with:

• USB ports
• USB-C port
• 12V outlet

Note: the cooler is plugged into the 12V outlet, so stick to devices with USB or USB-C cables.

In the camper vans, you’ll have access to USB and USB-C ports connected to a battery that recharges while the engine is running.

A portable power bank is also available through the Connected Kit option.

Yes, and child seats can be added as an option based on availability.

You can also install your own car seat compatible with ISOFIX anchors.

For insurance reasons, installation must be done by the travelers, but we can walk you through it on-site if needed.

It depends on their age, for safety reasons, we don’t recommend children under 5 sleeping alone in the rooftop tent, it’s best to have an adult with them.

Some parents choose to sleep with the child in the rooftop tent while the other parent sleeps inside the van. This setup gives everyone their own space and often means a better night’s sleep for the adult inside.

Fuel consumption can vary depending on your route, vehicle load, and driving style. Here are some averages for reference:

Minivan

• City: ~20 mpg

A full tank of gas (E87) costs between $100 and $105 CAD (62 to 65 euros), depending on current fuel prices.

Camper van

Our hybrid minivan (Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid) combines a gas engine with an electric motor for greater range on your road trip.

• Electric range: about 31 miles in 100% electric mode
• Total range per tank: about 497 miles

Charging is possible at Level 1 or Level 2 stations (no fast charging) available at many locations in Quebec.

You can drive without charging, the gas engine kicks in automatically.

Baroudeur tip: charging during a hike or a sightseeing stop often means leaving with a full battery and saving money on your trip.

No, our vehicles don’t have any special power needs (water or electricity), which means you can generally skip hookup sites, which tend to be pricier.

The cooler runs while the vehicle is on. When you’re parked for an extended period, a simple bag of ice (sold at most campgrounds) keeps your food cold.

You stay autonomous, flexible, and free in your itinerary.

In our camper vans, the battery charges automatically while you drive. If you plan on staying at a spot for a while, you can also plug the battery into a standard 120V outlet to recharge it.

It really depends on when you’re traveling.

If you’re going between mid-July and mid-August, we recommend booking popular campgrounds and your first night in advance to start your road trip with peace of mind.

For the rest of the season, you don’t need to book every site in advance, unless you have specific spots in mind.

Outside of peak periods, you can also camp outside of designated campgrounds (where permitted).

Our roadbook includes plenty of tips and resources to help you plan your nights on the road.

Good news: our minivans are accepted at most campgrounds in the “tent” category.

• the vehicle is allowed on the site (particularly at some Sépaq and Parks Canada parks)
• the access road is suitable for the vehicle
