We know it, summer isn’t over yet, but fall is coming up! Favourite season for many, hated by some, fall is still a really nice moment to fill up our belly (and our cabinets) of so many delicious foods. So here’s our suggestion to make your winter easier until the next van road trip season.
Follow the food roads to live a gourmet fall
There are a lot of itinerary you can follow if you want to enjoy the best food in the province. For example, the area of the Centre-du-Quebec (Center of Quebec) organizes every year a “Balade gourmande” that offers you 6 agrotourism circuits that will allow you to meet the maple region producers. You can even create your own personnal circuit with the suggestion they’ll make you on their website. The city of Becancour also offers some interesting stops right HERE. If you go in Montérégie, it’s the “Circuit du Paysan” that you’ll need to follow to enjoy the delicious apple region. As well, you can also go in the Laurentides and take the Chemin du Terroir. Tu y raviras tant tes papilles que ta curiosité dans cette région riche en culture, en patrimoine et en histoire ! What attracts you the most? The green orchards, the quiet vineyards, or the squash with weird shapes? Us, we’d like to taste everything!
Enjoy the season to do some harvesting
Who says fall says harvest! It’s THE time to get your summer favourite food to enjoy it all winter long. Small fruits, tomatoes, apples, squash, every types of vegetables, go! You’ll thank us when you’ll make yourself a smoothie in January with the strawberries you picked up on the Ile d’Orléans and when you’ll warm yourself up with a delicious pumpkin soup during the winter. You can consult the harvest calendar on the website of Mangez Québec to know when is the good moment to harvest your favourite local products.
Colours, but not only!
It’s obvious, we couldn’t forget that! The fall colours are amust when you think of a fall road trip. We personally you can enjoy both while resting on the quiet Île d’Orléans, THE food destinations near Quebec City. If you’re going there at the end of September or beginning of October, you’ll be able to see the beautiful colours shows that you’ll see across the shore, on the Beaupré Hill. HERE you can find some loved local stops, including the Maison Cassis Mona & Filles (Marie-Pier favorite) and the delicious Confiturerie Tiguidou (Louise favorite). Your belly will enjoy that, it’s a promise!
Go, take some comfortable clothes, a warm blanket and leave for an adventure on Quebec’s road. Even better, do it in a converted minivan! We promise you an awesome experience. 🙂
